As a new dog owner, the thought of how long my furry companions will be with me often crosses my mind, much like my own mortality. Now in my 50s, I've experienced much, and while some might view this age as still young, I see death as a reward, a sense of completion, and a gateway to the next chapter.
My beloved pets, Crocker and Phi Phi, embody my feelings towards companionship. While I adopted Crocker, Phi Phi, a mix of Pomeranian and Japanese Spitz, feels like my child. Many fellow pet owners can relate to this deep emotional bond.
Did you know that smaller dog breeds generally enjoy longer lifespans? For example, Chihuahuas often live around 15 years, while larger breeds like Great Danes average about seven or eight years. The idea that Phi Phi might grow into an 'old lady' fills me with joy, yet life remains unpredictable.

If a magic pill could erase the signs of aging, many would leap at the chance to take it. While Loyal focuses on canine health, the implications for humans are evident; we all desire the fountain of youth.
However, developing human anti-aging treatments is fraught with challenges. Aging can be challenging; my body isn’t what it used to be, and daily tasks can be more difficult. Yet, with age comes wisdom and cherished memories to share. While death can bring pain, I believe in living life fully today rather than extending it unnecessarily.
I don’t want to outlive my purpose. Death, to me, is a reward—a completion of my journey. My mother lived to 81 and looked youthful until the end, a testament to good genes. Aging is not a disease to be cured; it’s a natural part of life.
I cherish every moment I spend with my pets. Love is not quantified by years but is about living in the present. Will Loyal succeed in its mission to extend the lives of our dogs, and eventually, humans? Only time will tell. I hope that it doesn’t end up like other failed ventures in biotech.
