Finding My Community on Medium: A Journey of Connection

Chapter 1: The Awakening
When I first ventured into Medium, I was completely lost. I assumed that simply publishing my stories would lead to instant applause and engagement. I mistakenly believed that a lack of routine or discipline wouldn’t hinder my quest for success. It was a rude awakening to realize that this platform is far more intricate than I had anticipated. After all, is anything truly as simple as pressing a button?
However, as I began to take my writing—and the works of others—more seriously, I started to experience the benefits that so many writers speak of. One of the greatest rewards has been discovering my tribe.
Section 1.1: Building Connections
It took some effort, but I’ve managed to cultivate a small yet expanding group of writers whose work I deeply admire and regularly engage with. I’ve been utilizing the small notifications at the top of my home feed, which alert me when these authors release new content. Even during their writing breaks, I keep a notes app on my phone with their names, allowing me to revisit their feeds for articles I might have missed.

The most fulfilling aspect of finding my tribe is witnessing others include me in theirs as well. More valuable than countless claps is having a dedicated group of individuals who prioritize reading and supporting your work. I consider these people my friends—friends who sometimes understand me better than those I see every day.

As I reflect on the advice shared by others, I’ve found that engaging with fellow writers has proven to be the most effective strategy for growth on this platform. My follower count is steadily increasing, I’m seeing improvements in my writing, and I’m consistently learning.
More importantly, I’ve finally begun to discover my tribe, and many have graciously welcomed me into theirs.
