Making the Burger Buns
To prepare the burger buns, combine flour, water, salt, yeast, and olive oil in a bowl, mixing until a smooth dough forms. Allow the dough to rise in a warm area for approximately one hour. Once risen, divide it into four equal portions and shape each into a bun. Place them on a baking sheet and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (top/bottom heat) for around 20 minutes.
Feta Spinach Patty Preparation
Start by cleaning and rinsing the spinach. Finely chop the onion. Sauté the spinach in a bit of olive oil, adding the onion until it becomes translucent. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Crumble the feta cheese, then mix it with the spinach, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg to form a dough. Shape this mixture into four patties and fry them in olive oil until both sides are golden brown.
Crafting the Strawberry Salsa
Rinse and prepare the strawberries, then chop them along with the onion into small pieces. Squeeze the juice from the lime and combine it with the strawberries, onion, honey, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Assembling the Burgers
Slice the burger buns in half. Start with the bottom half, layering on lettuce leaves, followed by the feta spinach patty, and topping it with the strawberry salsa. Add slices of cucumber and tomato, then cover with the top half of the bun before serving.
Tip: For a vegan alternative, substitute the feta cheese with plant-based cheese. You can also experiment with different fruits for the salsa, like raspberries or mango.
Enjoy the taste of spring with this delightful and healthy burger!
