# Discovering the Cabbage Soup Diet: Will It Work for Me?
Written on
Chapter 1: The Cabbage Soup Conundrum
The claim was straightforward: consume this soup twice a day for a week to shed 10 pounds. But as I dove deeper into the process, I stumbled upon a multitude of loopholes that left me both amused and skeptical. After viewing the video three times, I was perplexed; it never explicitly stated that this soup had to be my only food for those seven days. It also failed to clarify the serving size!
Armed with all the necessary ingredients, I began chopping cabbage, carrots, celery, garlic, and onion. To my surprise, I had enough to fill two pots! Considering I was supposed to eat this soup twice daily for a week, this was a fortunate discovery. The aroma wafting through my home was absolutely delightful.
Chapter 1.1: Temptations in the Kitchen
As the soup simmered, my mind wandered to what else I could pair with it. Wouldn't some chunks of beef make this a hearty vegetable soup instead of a diet option?
And then, there was my husband’s half loaf of French bread, just sitting there, tempting me. I could easily slice off a few pieces, toast them, and add a little butter on the side—delicious! The video didn’t mention any restrictions on enjoying hot, buttered bread alongside my soup, right? Loopholes abound!
Subsection 1.1.1: The Reality of Dieting
I jokingly considered renaming this post to "How to Lose 60 lbs. While Sitting on the Couch: Part 2; or, How to Regain 30 lbs. by Indulging." But despite the temptations, I’m determined to stick to the Cabbage Soup Diet for a week. I mean, how challenging could it really be?
While crafting this narrative, the soup simmered for about half an hour, reaching completion in just an hour. It turned out to be a delicious homemade dish, and I was glad to have two pots ready.
Section 1.2: The First Day Struggles
In all honesty, I was on hour 19 of my fast as the soup cooked, and the thought of just one bowl didn’t seem sufficient. So, I caved and toasted two slices of keto-friendly, low-calorie bread to enjoy alongside it.
But let’s be real; I could have devoured two hefty slices of my husband’s bread instead! So, I suppose I did well... sort of.
The first day of the diet saw me breaking my resolve at bowl #1 out of 14. Oh, the irony! Here’s to hoping I don’t gain weight while enjoying this delicious soup twice daily.
The intention behind the diet might be to substitute other foods rather than exclude them entirely, but the video left that detail ambiguous. Fingers crossed that the soup remains my sole dinner at 6:00 p.m. from here on out—no more bread, even if it’s low-calorie.
Only 13 bowls left to go. Wish me luck!
