Embarking on a Transformative 8-Week Journey on Medium

Chapter 1: My Medium Journey Begins
It has now been two months since I embarked on my writing adventure with Medium—a total of 56 days dedicated to exploring content creation as a part-time endeavor.
Why conduct this review now? There are two main reasons: First, regular check-ins every couple of weeks are crucial for assessing progress, especially when starting something new. Waiting until the end of the month could mean missing out on opportunities for improvement. Second, in two weeks, Medium will be flooded with monthly reviews from countless writers, so I want to take a different approach!
Eight weeks is a sufficient period to experiment with various formats and methods, allowing me to observe the outcomes of each. This time has been spent reflecting on how to present my best self to effectively assist my audience—you, my readers.
In my previous career, I successfully built a six-figure business within just a year, and it was an exhilarating experience. I realized that everyone has the potential to turn an idea into value and that dreams can indeed become reality if one believes in them.
8 weeks ago, I sought to begin a new chapter—not to abandon my previous life (which I cherish and still manage), but to embrace a fresh challenge, continue learning, and create an online business this time around. So far, I’m thoroughly enjoying this journey. Helping fellow dreamers realize their aspirations has become incredibly fulfilling.
Each time I see the positive impact I've had on someone’s life, and they share how my support has transformed their perspective on challenges, it feels immensely rewarding.
Ultimately, the real measure of value isn't about the financial figures or the totals on your invoices. What truly matters is the positive impact your service, product, or assistance has on others. Never lose sight of this.
This principle holds true in both physical and digital realms. Why? Because behind each screen, there's a person experiencing your service or product—someone with emotions, fears, aspirations, and dreams.
Here are three key lessons I've learned thus far:
Section 1.1: Prioritize Your Audience
Your audience is everything. Without them, your service or product holds little worth. You may have the most brilliant idea and the best intentions, but if you overlook the fact that your audience consists of real human beings, you're likely to struggle.
No one enjoys feeling deceived or having their expectations dashed. Consider this simple analogy: imagine diving into a captivating book or movie, only to be met with a disappointing ending that feels rushed or unearned. What a letdown!
To avoid such pitfalls, ensure that you deliver what you promise. It’s better to pleasantly surprise your audience than to let them down.
So how can you achieve this?
Understand your audience deeply. What are their pains, fears, and goals? What benefits are they seeking from your service? By getting into their mindset and practicing empathy, you can create a valuable offering.
Section 1.2: Consistency is Key
Often, when people mention consistency, they refer to the frequency of content creation—how often you publish or send newsletters. While establishing a reliable schedule helps your audience know when to expect new content, maintaining quality is equally important.
Imagine gathering with friends to watch a new episode of a show you all love. If the episode turns out to be subpar, it can ruin the experience.
What you want is consistency in both quality and experience:
- Consistency over time: you don’t want your first service to be excellent while the next one is lacking.
- Consistency among your audience: everyone should have a similar experience with your service.
Chapter 2: Embrace the Journey
Let's be honest: it’s rare to achieve significant financial success from your products or services in the early months—or even years. You might work tirelessly without feeling adequately rewarded.
When I launched my first six-figure business, I made numerous sacrifices: spending over a year outside my comfort zone, far from friends and family, and even putting my health at risk while teetering on the edge of burnout.
Yet, I loved every minute of it. I received five-star ratings from my clients and felt valued as I met their expectations and beyond.
Imagine how challenging the journey would be if I hadn’t enjoyed the work I was doing. The path will be tough, so don’t make it harder for yourself.
Love what you do and savor the journey.
