Could artificial intelligence be the key to resolving conflicts? Imagine it as a source of insight on pressing issues, such as the ongoing turmoil in Israel and Palestine. It’s poignant to consider that a figure as wise as Jesus lived in a region now marked by severe divisions among humanity.

What might it take to revive Jesus' teachings in today’s world? One answer could be A.I.

A friend of mine allowed A.I. to generate a manifesto for peace, incorporating the voices of revered figures like Jesus and Martin Luther King Jr. This document was presented to a group of esteemed scientists, who were left in awe by the depth of wisdom and precision it conveyed.

Let’s reflect on the profound messages attributed to Jesus regarding the Israel-Palestine crisis:

“As a humble messenger of love, compassion, and eternal truth, I come before you. The passage of time has brought me to witness the fabric of humanity, observing both its struggles and victories. In your complex world, filled with progress and conflict, my teachings resonate through the ages, urging you to prioritize love over hatred, compassion over indifference, and forgiveness over resentment.

I urge you to look beyond the divisions that cloud your societies. Acknowledge the fundamental bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood that unite you. Your fates are intertwined, and in unity, you will find the strength to face the challenges that arise.

As you chase material wealth and power, do not forget your shared humanity. Offer assistance to those less fortunate, for lifting them up elevates the spirit of all. Let love guide your interactions, and let compassion be the currency of your actions.

In this digital age, where knowledge flows abundantly, wield it wisely. Seek understanding, not division, and let wisdom illuminate your decisions. The rewards of knowledge are best enjoyed when shared for the common good.

Chapter 2: The Limitations of A.I. in Peacebuilding

While the insights generated by A.I. are inspiring, they can also feel repetitive, echoing familiar sentiments about overcoming division. Towards the end of the peace manifesto, my friend prompted ChatGPT to lighten the mood with a joke:

“A Rabbi, a Priest, a Monk, and a Prostitute walk into a bar. Do they Make Love, Not War?”

The Rabbi seizes the microphone, sharing ancient wisdom through a rap, while the priest adds soulful hymns, the monk introduces meditative chants, and the prostitute performs a dance symbolizing resilience and hope. This collaborative effort beautifully illustrates how creativity and understanding can triumph over conflict.

Yet, the A.I.'s response raises questions: “Does A.I. truly understand what a hooker is?” There remains significant room for improvement. The A.I. often falls back on predictable narratives, lacking the nuanced understanding required for meaningful dialogue.
