The narrative unfolds in an era reminiscent of the Middle Ages, during a tumultuous period where kingdoms vied for territory and influence beneath the looming presence of the formidable fungal empire. Although the king of bacteria possessed a biological weapon resistant to penicillin, his forces remained insufficient to confront their fungal adversaries, prompting the need for allies. Reports of successful fusions between two distinct kingdoms emerged, both situated along opposite coastal regions. One kingdom was a sworn enemy of the fungi, necessitating assurance of their alliance, while the other presented a more uncertain alliance.

Consequently, the decision was made to first journey to the coastal realm of the algae kingdom, renowned for its dedication to algae research and cultivation. This kingdom thrived on a diet centered around algae aquaculture, with citizens who could spend hours submerged using snorkels crafted from air vesicles derived from the algae. Their homes were constructed from a hardened algae composite, while luminous algae illuminated the city, creating a tranquil harbor civilization that maintained neutrality with the fungi, having established some cooperative ties. The king of bacteria recognized the challenge in persuading the algae king, especially given that the fungi kingdom had already stripped him of much.

The expedition set forth from their mountainous territory towards the coast, navigating through numerous villages aligned with the fungi kingdom. The journey proved difficult, as communication between these villages, facilitated by fungal networks, enabled rapid contact with the main kingdom. They had to tread carefully to avoid detection. Additionally, the bacteria required sustenance for their survival, adding to the urgency of their mission. However, there was no certainty that the algae king would be willing to ally with them.

The algae king was an ancient mariner who, through the rudimentary application of CRISPR technology, had gained the ability to breathe through photosynthetic algae and live underwater without needing air. This king also possessed the extraordinary talent of rendering himself nearly invisible, blending seamlessly into his surroundings, particularly beneath the waves. Furthermore, he could produce potent neurotoxins from his skin, which he infused into his sword to poison his adversaries.

Despite the challenges, the expedition ultimately reached the algae city, where they were captivated by the radiant lights and arrived at a pier overlooking the ocean. At the end of the pier, a submerged entrance to the king’s castle awaited, constructed from a material resembling glass bubbles, yet fashioned from algae and equipped with oxygenation systems.

Upon arrival, the king of bacteria awaited the algae king, who soon appeared, cloaked in a mantle of green and golden algae. His skin glowed with intricate patterns, signaling a warm welcome for the guests. As he extended his hand in greeting, the king of bacteria, with nothing left to lose, firmly accepted the handshake, a gesture that could signify life or death in this world. A tense silence enveloped them, but both remained alive and prepared for dialogue.

Seated together, the king of bacteria conveyed his plans to combat the fungal kingdom. The algae king, contemplative, rose and placed a hand on his sword. Anxiously, the king of bacteria exclaimed, “You will thrive and benefit. The fungal empire has spread everywhere; we must restore balance for the sake of diversity.” He envisioned a future where the dominance of fungi would eliminate space for other life forms.

Ultimately, the algae king declined to partake in the battle or provide soldiers. Instead, he offered the king of bacteria medicinal enhancements from his civilization, utilizing photosynthetic algae technology to improve his breathing. This would bolster his stamina for the impending conflict.

Additionally, the algae king provided a vessel for the bacteria king's next destination, facilitating a direct route to persuade the other kingdom with a successful fusion to join in the assault against the fungi, bypassing the need to return the same way.

With enhanced breathing capabilities and a clear direction, the king of bacteria departed along the coast, determined to gain the support of the next kingdom in their fight against the fungal empire.
