Chapter 1: A Reunion at Disneyland

When Lara finally reunited with her family at Disneyland, her mind was elsewhere.

“What’s on your mind?” her husband Adam inquired.

“You won’t believe it; it’s unbelievable,” she replied, attempting to process everything.

Adam recognized that discussing it right then was futile. Lara's expression indicated that the news could wait—perhaps it was better that way. He decided to focus on making the evening enjoyable for the family. Fireworks were planned later, and he thought experiencing those might help clear his wife’s mind.

After a long day, Lara and Adam were ready to rest. The hotel room, though still showing signs of the day’s excitement, was peaceful. Lara typically enjoyed tidying up, but she understood that having a heartfelt conversation with Adam and getting a good night’s sleep took precedence.

Once Lara finally shared her thoughts, Adam lay in silence, taken aback. “So, all paths lead to Kansas?”

“Wow, even in tough times, you manage to make me laugh.” Lara, who rarely swore, was clearly venting her frustration but in a manner that helped her cope.

The analogy about Rome troubled Lara. Hadn’t their civilization eventually crumbled? She increasingly pondered the powerful entities that thrived on chaos and destruction. The stark divisions in the United States, exacerbated by Trump and his allies, weighed heavily on her mind.

In rural areas, white men were the demographic most inclined to own firearms. Many seemed to have been negatively influenced by the insidious messages that accompanied those weapons. This wasn't limited to the U.S.—it appeared that arms produced by those within the military-industrial complex had the potential to incite violence.

“Kill.” A simple, yet chilling command. In a world filled with complexities and tensions, it was disturbingly tempting to think that such straightforward actions could resolve personal issues. Unfortunately, some individuals genuinely believed that taking lives would alleviate their problems.

“But what role does India play in all of this?” Adam pondered. “And how could the Bench Guy be Indian? He looked European. Then again, I suppose that’s foolish to assume—after all, he’s an alien.”

“True, if he can transform into a white guy, changing into an Indian should be easy. You know, sometimes when I time travel, it feels like people see me differently, as if I’m not myself. Maybe when Kunal travels through time and space, he always embodies the role he plays.”

Lara made a mental note to ask Lord Narada about this. Now that she understood who facilitated her time travel, she realized she had many questions to explore.

“Not to drop too many famous quotes, but do you think the force is strong in Sujita’s family? Could that be the Indian link? Knowing Sujita might mean knowing Pavan, and possibly Sujata too?” Adam was piecing together the puzzle, and it made sense. Yet, Lara couldn’t shake her curiosity about what Pavan and Kunal might have been involved in back in India.

It couldn’t have been just a coincidence that landed Pavan in prison. There had to be more, and Lara was determined to uncover the truth. But first, she had a meeting with an agent the following day. How was Hollywood entangled in this potential global conspiracy? That was Lara’s next lead, and she wouldn’t leave California without unearthing that crucial nugget of information!

“Well, I suppose it’s fitting we’re in California,” Adam grinned.

“Because you’re my pot of gold somewhere over the rainbow.”

“It’s ‘at the end of the rainbow’—no more Kansas jokes!” she pleaded.

“I’ll stop, but only if you do.” In response, she playfully tugged at him.

“I’m holding onto your golden nuggets, my love, and I’m never letting go!”

Adam felt immense gratitude for his wife’s daring mission. The more perilous it became, the more he admired her resolve. He wholeheartedly supported Lara in her quest as a mystic traveler.
