Chapter 1: Facing the Weekend Challenge

As we enter the second week of my caffeine-free journey, I find myself grappling with the weekend once again. It seems I’m one of the few who doesn’t relish the break from routine! This weekend is unique for two reasons: I’ve just uploaded my very first YouTube video, and I’m still basking in the excitement of this achievement. Additionally, my wife has taken a short trip out of state, granting me a rare day to myself while she spends time with our daughter. How awesome is that?

Although I’m uncertain about what tomorrow will bring, my quest for effective strategies to combat the afternoon slump continues. I’ve established a solid foundation with my initial list, but I’m on the lookout for foolproof tactics. I aim to build an arsenal of methods that will equip me to battle drowsiness, no matter the situation.

Next, I’m venturing off the beaten path to delve into the realm of traditional Chinese medicine. My upcoming experiment involves acupressure—not acupuncture. I’ve consulted a seasoned kung-fu practitioner who has shared some valuable pointers on stimulating energy through specific pressure points.

Here are the key acupressure points I’ll explore for an energy boost:

  1. Zusanli: This point is found on the lower leg, four finger-widths below the kneecap, and one finger-width toward the outer side of the shinbone. It’s often referred to as the "Leg Three Miles" point, renowned for enhancing vitality and energy levels.
  2. Sanyinjiao: Located on the inner leg, about four finger-widths above the ankle bone. This point is believed to support the spleen, liver, and kidney meridians, potentially improving overall well-being and energy.
  3. Hegu: Positioned on the back of the hand, between the thumb and index finger. While commonly used for pain relief, stimulating this point is also thought to enhance energy flow throughout the body.
  4. Yongquan: This point is situated on the sole of the foot, just below the ball. Applying pressure here is said to invigorate the body's energy and foster a sense of vitality.

I must admit, these techniques seem promising. I’ll report back with my immediate observations soon!
